The nation went on a mourn as soon as Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao lost to his number one rival in his boxing career, Juan Manuel Marquez in an almost no time saved-by-the-bell 4th round knockout in their fight last December 9, 2012. Today, December 16, 2012, another Pinoy, Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire went out to fight yet another legend and future hall of famer and 4-time world champion in 4 different weight divisions, George Arce (Donaire Vs Arce).

I must admit even seeing these two fighters and knowing they will fight it out in the ring for the first time that I had no doubts Donaire will come up the champ and retain his belt but seeing the actual fight made me more convinced that Nonito will surely win the fight. Why? First sign I saw was the fact that Arce never have been so indecisive in his fights before until this day. Second – I’ve never seen him so hesitant to fight, charge and get near a fighter as when he fought the Pinoy. 3rd reason – the minute I heard the ringside commentators Diane Castillejo and Ronnie Nathanielsz said that Arce went in with the weight limit of 122 pounds but the sooner after the fighter weigh ins happened, the challenger immediately went on a high carbo load diet to get his weight back fast, I knew then that he will not make it with Donaire. That he will no survive his fast fist phase.

I knew also apart from the 3 basic reason why I knew that Donaire will win this fight, the minute I saw how quick he is compared to his opponent and how slow and very hesitant Arce have become, it clearly showed how he knows the power punch of the Pinoy boxer will get him knocked out. The respect seems to be there and he knew it. He got knocked down in the first round and from there, everything else is past way his talent in boxing. I mean, no offense, Arce is very good at his skills in boxing out some of the greatest but aren’t we forgetting something here? Donaire is the same man who knocked out another legend and great fighter in the likes of champions in Vic Darchinyan and Fernando Montiel, two of the most dreaded in the division.

Today, Nonito has redeemed the Filipinos from the Pacquiao sadness that we suffered after knocking out George Arce in the 3rd round of their fight today (you can watch it in another video replay later) in the very heart of Houston, Texas, in the middle of the hometown crowd of Mexicans like Arce is. Today, we have proven once again that we still have more boxers coming up in the next generations. The world has yet to see more great fighters come out from the Philippines and Donaire has proven himself today once again and many times years back. He is a true champ and he will soon be the next pound for pound king in Ring Magazine’s list of champions.
