SOLAS Philippines

SOLAS is the short term for Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS). It is an internationally recognized maritime safety treaty according to wikipedia. (Wiki Defines it as) The SOLAS Convention in its successive forms is generally regarded as the most important of all international treaties concerning the safety of merchant ships. In the Philippines, it is also recognized to be a requirement for seaman looking to work abroad or in the shipping and maritime industry.

By standards, it is a necessity for all to be in possession upon getting onboard to work in the shipping industry. There are currently 3 versions, the 1960, 1974 and the 1980 which contain 12 chapters with respect to sea aviation and navigation all of which pertaining to safety measures while at sea.

Pinoys looking for SOLAS training center in Philippines had to finish all requirements before they will be awarded with such certification. If you are to ask me how much SOLAS costs, it will depend on the training center offering the said service for awarding this professional qualification.
