10 Filipino billionaires joined world’s richest

SM malls big boss and philanthropist Henry Sy is the richest Filipino to date.

Sy ranked 71st in the latest Forbes Magazine list of the richest people in the world with a net worth of $12.9 billion.

Microsoft’s Bill Gates still is the richest person in the world with an estimated $75 billion net worth.

Sy is followed by JG Summit Holdings’ John Gokongwei Jr in the 270th spot with a net worth of $5 billion and the third richest Filipino is Lucio Tan ranked 380th with a net worth of  $2.4 billion.

The richest Filipinos joining Forbes’ latest annual world’s billionaires list were:

  • George Ty (GT Capital) with $3.7 billion at #421
  • David Consunji (DMCI) with $3 billion at #569
  • Andrew Tan (Megaworld) with $3 billion at #569
  • Tan Caktiong (Jollibee) with $3 billion at #569
  • Enrique Razon Jr (ICTSI) with $2.4 billion at #722
  • Lucio and Susan Co (Puregold) with $1.6 billion at #1121
  • Robert Cuyiuto Jr (Prudential) with $1.6 billion at #1121
  • Manuel Villar (Vista Land) with $1.3 billion at #1367

Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg is the sixth richest in the world with $44.6 billion and L’Oreal’s Liliane Bettencourt of France who was ranked 11th with $36.1 billion making her the richest woman in the world.

This year’s list introduced the youngest billionaires in the world Danish heiress Alexandra Andresen, 19-year-old and 20-year-old sister Katharina

The youngest billionaire was 19-year-old Danish heiresses Alexandra Andresen. Her 20-year-old sister Katharina is the second youngest on the list with $1.2 billion net worth each ranking at #1475.
