The PiliPinas Debates was hosted by GMA Network headed by its GMA News’ head Jessica Soho, together with Philippine Daily Inquirer and the Commission on Elections.

Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago laughed off any question about her medical condition.  Santiago was diagnosed with a stage 4 lung cancer.

Soho asked Santiago why she is running for the presidency when in the senate, she went into a qualified medical leave for chronic fatigue.

The feisty senator said that it is her right to run for public office and there is nothing in the constitution that barring her to run due to poor health.

“I was at the height of cancer stage four! Stage four is the last stage!” Defensor-Santiago said when she got irked by the question about her performance in the senate in recent years.

She then added “Nag-aantay ako mamatay, eh hindi ako pinatay ng guardian angel ko eh!”

On the other hand, front runner Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte was asked about his personal life having numerous girlfriends after separating from his wife.

The tough mayor said “I do not know who invented it. Meron lang akong inakbayan noon. Ang nanay ko ang nagalit. E kung hiwalay ka sa asawa anong gawin mo sa sarili mo?” drawing laughter from the crowd.

But Duterte cleared all the rumors about his womanizing that he only saw other women when he became legally separated from his wife Elizabeth Zimmermann.

“I am separated from my wife. Yung isang asawa ko nasa America, yung nurse. So for a while in between those years, it’s biology. It is biology.”

Meanwhile, the administration candidate Mar Roxas took a turn at Senator Grace Poe’s political experience.

Roxas told Poe that to become president is not an OJT that experience is an important part to be the top leader of the government.

The young senator then answered Roxas question “Naka-tatlong administrasyon na siya (Roxas) d’yan. Pero marami na rin akong inimbistigahan katulad ng DILG at ‘yung sa DOTC sa MRT. At sa tingin ko naman na hindi mo kailangan ng napakahabang karanasan para malaman na kulang ang tulong ng gobyerno sa transportasyon sa ating bayan at kulang ang tulong nga gobyerno para magkaroon tayo ng kapanatagan,” Poe added,  hitting the poor performance of Roxas as head of DILG and DOTC.
