Typhoon Pedring Update: PAG-ASA declares no classes today September 27, 2011

It was declared today, September 26, 2011 via PAGASA that classes are suspended for pre school, elementary and high school levels all over Metro Manila as well as in areas affected by heavy rains. Classes have been cut from 12:00 noon onward. According to PAGASA website, “PEDRING” was upgraded to typhoon intensity as it gained more strength and threatens Isabela-Aurora Area. Tropical Cyclone Warning: Typhoon “PEDRING”. This news update was issued at 11:00 a.m., Monday, 26 September 2011.

“Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under Public Storm Warning Signals are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas are alerted against big waves or storm surges generated by this tropical cyclone.

Estimated rainfall amount is from 15 – 25 mm per hour within the 650 km diameter of the typhoon.

Typhoon Pedring is expected to enhance the Southwest Monsoon and will bring scattered to widespread rains over Southern Luzon and Visayas.

The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 5 PM today and the hourly updates.”
