Basically, in the Philippines, Social Security is a mandated supplemental retirement system that the government gives to qualified members of the agency. This qualification is determined based from certain rules and laws and is given without prejudice to applicants who will pass the criteria list whether it be for a loan purpose, retirement and other benefits. In the Philippines, it is the Social Security System (SSS) that handles this particular service of the government. (full photo credits to sss.gov.ph)Funding, Deduction and Recipients

Social Security is funded out of payroll taxes derived from the people’s monthly deductions from salary. The amount of deduction or remittance that goes to the SSS is determined by a salary bracket standard but the employee has the option to increase at whatever cost he or she wants to remit to the social security system agency which eventually determines how much retirement benefit a member will receive at the end of his or her service to a company.

This may also be pointed to how much loanable amount to apply and get out of a benefit which may either be pointed to salary loan, housing loan, educational loan, calamity loan and more. These are just some of the popular loans in the Philippines today as given by the SSS to its active, paying and contributing members. This certain percentage of a worker’s paycheck goes directly into the Social Security fund to help provide benefits to current Social Security member recipients derived from deductions.
