The Halloween Tradition in the Philippines

Observing Halloween in the Philippines

Tomorrow is going to be a big day for most of the people in the Philippines as the country observes the celebration of Halloween season, a season for the dead and their places in the cemetery. Every year, Filipinos by the millions go to the cemetery to observe Halloween tradition in the Philippines. This is because as they say, Halloween cannot be passed without going to the niche of a dead loved one and paying respect top their souls by cleaning the niche and getting rid of growing grass and stray plants that grew over the long months of rainy season.

Philippines and Halloween Tradition

Filipinos themselves say that they have the most unique way of celebrating Halloween tradition in the Philippines and pay respect to the dead. Usually, the preparations range from 2 days to a week even if most have work to attend to. If they don’t have the time to spend to personally do the cleaning of the niche of their dead, then they see to it that they spend a little money having it cleaned by someone who offers the service of repainting and cleaning the area of the dead. If they can do it personally, it is usually that the male members of the family go to do the chore a day or two before November 1 to see to it that it is already clean before All Saints Day comes.
